Pang Jealousy

I've just discovered why it is so expensive to fly to Pangnirtung . . . it's just that gorgeous.

Daily, Steph and I read about our blog-friends in Pang' and our minds blown with just how great it is visually. Tara and Sarah have continually posted some unbelievable pictures, especially of the Northern Lights. Since traffic is traffic when it comes to blogs, I suggest that anyone reading this, read theirs.

thanks for plugging our blogs! you're right...it really is beautiful here and every day i look around awestruck. i can't wait for all the new experiences the winter will bring...

...oh, and sometimes it would be nice to get to iqaluit. cheaper, more variety in the stores, public transportation, restaurants, restaurants that serve alcohol, live music (actually, i'm sure that last one exists here in someone's kitchen)...

but i do suggest you make it here before you go south; sarah and i would be happy to show you around!

First Air usualy has seat sales to Pang in June (too late for snowmachines and too early for boats so hard to get around in the Park or out to Kekerten) but one can still enjoy the beauty.

I spent a couple years in Qikiqtarjuaq before moving on to another community and often landed in Pang on my way to Iqaluit. I freely admit to having Pang jealousy. I spent 6 years in Nunavut and Pang will always stand out in my mind.

As for airfares, this past summer I was quote a price to $5600 to fly round trip from Nanisivik to Ottawa. Needless to say I booked a one way flight instead and a second one-way trip later on.....not that I really saved much in the end but it did give me a unique anecdote to share to anyone willing to believe it.
